Los Angeles, CA, November 29, 2011 — Roland U.S. hosted the second annual Roland Piano Festival National Finals at the Roland Corporation U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles on November 12, 2011. Hundreds of guests, judges and contestants took part in the festival with local events kicking off this September at authorized Roland dealers across the country. Dealer and teacher participation doubled for the 2011 Roland Piano Festival, and this year’s national event was broadcast worldwide via live web stream.
There were four performance divisions for the 2011 Roland Piano Festival: Youth 1 (age 8 and under), Youth 2 (age 9-12), Youth 3 (age 13-17), and Adult Hobbyist. Local finalists submitted video performances, and top performances for each of the four divisions were invited to move onto the semi-finals. The 16 semi-finalist performers deemed superior were then invited to compete during the National Piano Festival.
Winners were crowned in Los Angeles by three performance artist judges -- Dr. Scott Tibbs of Roland U.S., Scott Houston (The Piano Guy), and Yana Reznik, who also performed during the event. Roland Piano Festival National Finals Winners were Youth 1 division - Gianna Sabatini; Youth 2 division – Christopher Langan; Youth 3 division - Leslie Rice; and Adult Hobbyist - Amy Koch.
The Roland RM-700 digital piano was used exclusively during the entire festival, and participating teachers commented on how pleased they were with its tone and touch quality. They were also pleased with how much the features of the instrument motivated their students during the preparation for the festival.
