Stream of Praise Music Ministries is a Chinese-American music ministry based in the U.S. with a worldwide outreach. From their studios in Southern California, they record original songs and videos and commission their bands throughout North America, Europe and Asia. They recently released a new DVD entitled “More Love” and completed a five-week tour that included Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong…and as usual, with a fair bit of Roland gear.

Stream of Praise pastor, Dennis Chou, has long been a proponent of Roland products. “We’ve been using several of Roland’s signature pieces for years,” says Dennis. “Instruments like the RD-700GX, Fantom-G6, Fantom-G8, SPD-20 and the HPD-15 have been a core part of our sound in the making of our albums and also on our worldwide concert tours.”

Pastor Sandy Yu is the executive producer of the Stream of Praise recordings and music director for the bands. As a graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music with a Masters degree in piano, she has discriminating standards when it comes to keyboards. “The RD-700GX has proven to be one of the best keyboards that we have ever used in regards to tone, touch, and style,” conveys Sandy. “One remarkable feature is the spectacular piano tone. Not only does the sound simulate an acoustic piano, it has amazing weighted keys that provide an extremely realistic touch – comparable to that of an acoustic piano. It is especially useful during live worship events to have this keyboard to provide a solid and lively acoustic piano sound in our music.”

Beyond piano, the Fantom-G6 and -G8 have an important role in the Stream of Praise music. “They have given us phenomenal tones and sound samples that we've utilized both in live settings and in our studio recordings,” according to Sandy. “A couple of our favorite tones are the pads, strings, electric pianos, and lead synths. All in all, these two Fantom keyboards are great additions to our worship band sound.”
