SE-02 FAQ

Q:Is the sound engine analog?
A:
The entire sound engine, except for the digital delay, consists of analog circuitry.
Since the delay sound (digital delay) is added to the analog sound at the VCA, you can get pure analog sound by setting the delay AMOUNT to 0.

Q:Does it have a CV OUT jack?
A:
It has no CV OUT jack.

Q:How do I use the EXT INPUT jack?
A:
The EXT INPUT jack is routed to the VCF input.
This was designed to take inputs from external synthesizers (Euro Rack Module, etc).
As such, it will sound only when the Gate signal is active.

Q:How do I erase patterns?
A:
Overwrite and save an empty pattern over the pattern number that you want to erase.

Q:It goes out of tune.
A:
Since this is a fully analog VCO, changes in ambient temperature can cause it to go out of tune.
If this happens, adjust your tuning on the TUNE knob.

Also, the oscillators' pitch and scale can deviate over years of use.
If this happens, use the following steps to run the automatic tuning function (PITCH CALIBRATION):
  1. Set the mode selection switch to "PATCH."
  2. Press the [VALUE] knob with the [TRANSPOSE] button pressed down.
  3. When you see "Start Tuning?" on the display, press the [VALUE] knob.
You are done.

Q:What are its USB audio specs?

Q:What does the patch comparison (COMP) function do?
A:
Pressing the COMP button and lighting it up brings up the state it was in before editing and immediately after patch selection. By pressing COMP again and turning off the light brings up the state during edit (before saving).
By using this patch comparison (COMP) function, you can adjust your knobs while you compare your pre- and post-edit sounds.

On SE-02, if you make any changes to knob settings after a patch is selected, a dot will appear in the lower right area of the display to let you know that you are editing.
This dot will disappear when the COMP button is lit to show you that it is in the pre-edit state.

Q:Is there a way to check the knob settings for preset patches?
A:
No, there is not.

Q:When I save a pattern in SEQ, will it also save the tone as well?
A:
When you save a pattern in step sequencer mode (SEQ), the "patch number" you used at the time will be saved together.

For example, if you want to change the tone of the current pattern and save that tone, switch to PATCH mode and save it in a user patch (U001-U128).
If the the patch number saved in the pattern and the user patch number you have saved are different, go back to SEQ mode and save the pattern as well.
* Even if there is no change to the patch number, make sure to save the pattern if you have edited it (Note and Gate, etc).

On SE-02, patches and patterns are read temporarily when they are played.
The pre-saved, temporary state is retained even after you save a patch or pattern. So if you wish to check what you have saved, reselect the patch number or pattern.

Q:Is there a way to enter ties or slurs?
A:
Entering ties or slurs is not supported.
But you can make your sounds transition smoothly using GLIDE settings.

Q:What is the GATE in SEQ?
A:
"GATE" on the step sequencer mode (SEQ) refers to the GATE TIME or the time from when the key is first pressed down to when it is released.

Q:Is there a way to play back my patterns in reverse order from 16 to 1 in SEQ or SONG?
A:
You can play back the pattern in reverse order from step 16 to 1 by changing the DIRECTION on the pattern performance settings to "<-".
By setting this to "<->" you can make it play from step 1 to 16, at which point it will play back in reverse from step 16 to 1.

Q:Patterns do not play back even when I select them in SEQ and press playback.
A:
Check to see if the Key Trigger in SEQ SETUP is set to OFF.
If this is set to ON/Trn, it will behave according to the key trigger, and you will not be able to play back the pattern using the playback button.
