VRC-01 System Program ( Ver.1.07 )

For customers using macOS computer.
HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the current version of the system working on you're VRC-01 before downloading the file.
  1. Turn on the power while holding down VIDEO SELECT [4] button and ASSIGNABLE DECK [6] button.
    The unit starts in the update mode.
  2. Verify the version.
    In the update mode, the buttons light up in the combinations shown below. These indicate the respective version numbers.
    • ASSIGNABLE DECK [4]-[6], [USER]: These indicate the second digit to the right of the decimal point.
    • SCENE [4]-[1]: These indicate the first digit to the right of the decimal point.
    • VIDEO SELECT [4]-[1]: These indicate the integer portion.
    Check the illumination pattern of the buttons to determine the version number.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR VRC-01
  • VRC-01
  • USB cable
    * This is used to connect the VRC-01 and the computer. Provide a cable suitable for connection to the computer you're using.
    * If the computer has a USB Type-A connector, you can use the USB cable that comes with the VRC-01.
  • Computer (Windows PC) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the VRC-01 This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your VRC-01 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the VRC-01 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • Main Unit firmware versions before Ver.1.06 cannot be updated from a computer running macOS.
    Please update the Main Unit using a Windows computer or contact your local authorized Roland Service Depot for assistance if necessary.
    Note that any future updates after Ver.1.06 can be done from Windows and macOS computers.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program.

GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
  1. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
  2. Click the "Download" button to download the system program (vrc01_sys_v107.zip).
  3. Unarchive the downloaded file.
    Windows PC: Right-click the file and select "Extract All", then click "Extract".
  4. Unarchiving creates a "vrc01_sys_v107" folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted file.
  • Never turn off the VRC-01's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the VRC-01 itself may be destroyed.
Follow the steps below to install the extracted system program on your VRC-01.
  1. Hold down the ASSIGNABLE DECK [1] button and the SCENE [1] button and use the USB cable to connect the DEVICE port on the VRC-01 to the USB port on the computer.
  2. The USB drive appears on the screen of the computer.
  3. Copy the update program (VRC_upd.bin and VRC_updU.bin) to the UPD folder of the USB drive.
  4. On the computer, unmount or remove the USB drive.
  5. Updating starts and the SCENE [1] button is blinking during updating.
    ASSIGNABLE DECK [1] button and SCENE [1] button are lit, the update has finished.
    * If ASSIGNABLE DECK [1] button and SCENE [1] button are blinking, restart this procedure.
  6. Turn off the power.
