GAIA-2 System Program ( Ver.1.12 )

HOW TO TELL THE VERSION

Please check the version of the system working on your GAIA-2 before downloading the archive file.

Turn on the power to the unit.
Press the [MENU] (WRITE) button.
The MENU screen appears.
Use the [VALUE] knob to select "Utility," and then press the [VALUE](ENTER) knob.
* You can also select it using the MOTION PAD.
Use the [VALUE] knob to select "Info," and then press the [VALUE](ENTER) knob.
The version information appears.

UPDATE HISTORY

Change the specification

The default value for Auto Off has been changed to 20 minutes.
* For information on the Auto Off function, please refer to the OWNER'S MANUALS.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs have been fixed.

Depending on the usage environment, MOTIONAL PAD calibration may occur frequently.
Other minor bugs have been fixed.

Additional Functions

The Roland Cloud Connect WC-1 (optionally available) is now supported. Roland Cloud Connect WC-1 lets you load sounds directly from Roland Cloud over Wi-Fi.
For details, refer to the "GAIA-2 Roland Cloud User's Guide."
Added the "PANEL VIEW screen" where you can check the MODEL EXPANSION panel control settings.
For more information, see "Checking the assignment information for a parameter" in the GAIA-2 Reference Manual.
Added TEMPLATE Function to MASTER EFFECTS (EQ/COMP).
Added the "Motional Pad Sens" parameter to adjust the sensitivity of the MOTIONAL PAD.

Functionality Improvements

Various functions of the Sequencer have been improved.
Count-in display
Recording timing adjustment
MOTION EDIT screen transition
Sort note order in EDIT display
Stop keyboard sound when "Mode: KEY-TRIG" or "Play Trans: ON"
Correction of beat deviation during external synchronization
Added the functions to operate while holding down the [SHIFT] button.

The model name display of MODEL EXPANSION has been made into a logo.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs have been fixed.

The effects from Shimmer Reverb or Filter Drive may be applied unintentionally.
When chord memory is ON, chords are not step-recorded to the sequencer.
Other minor bugs have been fixed.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR GAIA-2

GAIA-2
USB flash drive (The USB Memory need to be formatted on a GAIA-2.)

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE

Never apply this update data to any product other than the GAIA-2. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
Never power-off your GAIA-2 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the GAIA-2 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE

Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
Click the "Download" button to download the system program (gaia2_sys_v112.zip).
Unarchive the downloaded file.
- Windows: Right-click the file and select "Extract All," then click "Extract".
- macOS: Double-click the file to unzip it.
  - Never double-click "GAIA2_UPA_up.bin" displayed inside the folder after unarchiving.
Copy "GAIA2_UPA_up.bin" to the level displayed immediately on accessing the USB flash drive (the USB flash drive's root directory).

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE

Turn the power of the GAIA-2 off.
Connect the USB flash drive in which you saved the "GAIA2_UPA_up.bin" file to the USB MEMORY / EXT DEVICE jack.
While pressing the [MENU] (WRITE) button, turn on the power.
"Updater" appears on the screen and the update starts automatically.
- Never turn off the power or disconnect the USB flash drive while the update is in progress. Doing so might make the unit impossible to start.
When the display indicates "Please power off," turn the GAIA-2's power off.
Disconnect the USB flash drive from the GAIA-2.
The update operation is finished. The new system program will be run at the next startup. Check to make sure the version has been updated.

Roland Software License Agreement


In no event shall Roland Corporation be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this updater. The foregoing provision is effective even if Roland Corporation has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

This is a legal agreement between you (an individual or a corporation) and Roland Corporation (herein referred to as "Roland") regarding the usage of this software product (herein referred to as "SOFTWARE"). Please read carefully the terms of this License Agreement before installing or using the SOFTWARE. By installing, copying, or starting the use of the SOFTWARE, you hereby consent to the terms of this License Agreement.

1. GRANT OF LICENSE

Roland grants you the following non-exclusive rights to use the SOFTWARE in accordance with the terms of this License Agreement.
(a) You may only use the SOFTWARE on a specific single computer at one time. Use of the SOFTWARE shall include loading the SOFTWARE into temporary memory (i.e., RAM) or installing the SOFTWARE into storage media (i.e., hard disk) of the computer on which you will use the SOFTWARE.
(b) You may make one copy of the SOFTWARE for backup purposes only (on floppy disk, magneto optical disk, DAT or the similar media), but you are prohibited to make any other copy.


2. COPYRIGHT

The SOFTWARE and its copyrights are the property of Roland and are protected by all international copyright laws and treaties.
Therefore, you must treat the SOFTWARE like any other copyrighted material (i.e., a book or a CD). All rights that are not provided for herein are reserved by Roland.


3. OTHER RESTRICTIONS

(a) You shall not modify, change, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE and the copyright notice and copyrighted logo.
Unauthorized copying, uploading to another network, distributing, modifying and/or attaching this software to other media or any other sales item is expressly forbidden.
(b) You shall not loan, rent, lease, sublicense or transfer the SOFTWARE, either in whole or in part, to any third party. But you may permanently transfer the SOFTWARE and accompanying printed materials provided you retain no copies of the Software and recipient agrees to the terms of this License Agreement. If the SOFTWARE has been updated or upgraded, any transfer of the SOFTWARE must include the most recent update and all prior versions.
(c) If this SOFTWARE contains multiple templates of media (such as floppy disks and CD-ROM) and these media contain the same software, you may use only the one form of media that is appropriate for your computer. You shall not use the remaining form(s) of media on another computer.
(d) You may not use the Software from multiple locations of a multi-user or networked system at any time.

3.2 Open source software and other third party software
(a) The SOFTWARE may use open source software and other third party software (herein referred to as "OSS, etc.").
(b) The OSS, etc. in the case of the preceding paragraph shall be subject to the OSS, etc. license (herein referred to as "OSS License"), and you shall comply with the OSS License.
(c) If there are any differences between the terms of this License Agreement and the OSS License, the OSS License shall prevail and the terms of this License Agreement shall not apply.

4. NO WARRANTY

Roland makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, with respect to any of the software, including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.


5. NO LIABILITY

Roland can not reply to inquiries regarding this system software updater. Please read the instructions completely, and please note that you should use the SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
In no event shall Roland be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this product. The foregoing provision is effective even if Roland has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Even if the SOFTWARE has any material, verifiable, and reproducible program errors, Roland shall have no liability to modify such errors.


6. TERMINATION OF THE LICENSE

Roland reserves the right to terminate this License Agreement if you fail to comply with any of the terms of this License Agreement. Upon such termination, you shall immediately stop using the SOFTWARE.


7. GENERAL

(a) Any provision of this Agreement which is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall be ineffective to the extent of such prohibition or unenforceability without affecting, impairing or invalidating the remaining provisions hereof.
(b) This License Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of State of California without reference to the principles of conflicts of laws.
