Sales and Support Specialist - Pro A/V - East

Division: Sales
Reports To: Business Development Manager – Pro A/V

Summary Description

As a member of our sales and support team, the Sales and Support Specialist requires an AV design professional that will focus on assisting Roland Pro AV clients and partners with best practices for installing and implementing our products into collaboration spaces. The Sales and Support Specialist will work closely with the sales team, independent rep firms and their customers to assist them in ensuring optimal success when installing Roland products. The Sales and Support Specialist will provide training, sales and technical support for sales reps, resellers, integrators, consultants, and end customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations and solutions to customers and partners based on the needs of their environments and applications.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for design and build assistance to sales reps, integrators, dealers, architects and end customers.
  • Provide training on Roland Pro A/V equipment for sales reps, rep firms, integrators, dealers and architect and end customers.
  • Create simple and easy to understand documentation and training videos for best practices using Roland video products.
  • Provide step-by-step phone, email, and online (SKYPE, Facetime) assistance when needed for customers installing or using Roland video products.
  • Provide technical training for Roland Video products.
  • Assist sales process to include order tracking, stock balance inquiries, pricing, and general customer service requests for customers by phone, email and web.
  • Maintain product knowledge on Roland’s complete product line while gaining a broad understanding of how products integrate with installed AV environments.
  • Build knowledge in other collaboration tools, platforms, and solutions where our product may integrate in collaboration spaces.
  • Maintain excellent rapport while frequently interacting with existing clients.
  • Provide feedback to appropriate departments regarding product performance and features.

Employment Standards

Education/Experience: Technical arts degree is ideal, or equivalent combination of technical arts certificate and experience. Experience in live event video production or system integration experience for AV system design, installation, operation and support. Experience in industry related sales, retail or commercial.

Skills: Requires above average interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, partners, and dealer sales staff in a timely basis where circumstances might sometimes be stressed for either in person or telephone communication. Must possess a demonstrated sales ability. Excellent customer service skills are a requirement for this position. Must be skilled in the use of web, email, social media, and telephone communication. Must be able to write technical and application based content. Must be comfortable on camera and microphone for video and audio recording. Requires the ability to effectively write reports and other communication items. Basic math skills are required.

Knowledge: Requires strong knowledge of live video production, streaming and workflows associated with live event production or broadcast.

Physical Qualifications:
This position requires the ability to drive, rent rental cars and hotel rooms, ability to fly to visit key markets and ability to travel internationally if required. Must be able to read and comprehend and have sufficient hearing and vision to determine audio and video characteristics as well as support telephone, office and event communications.

The Sales and Support Specialist will be expected to maintain a reliable vehicle for travel within the local area and the movement of samples and products, etc. Must maintain a clean driving record during employment.

As a remote employee, you will be required to provide a suitable work and storage location without cost to the company. When working from home, the Sales and Support Specialist must be able to support customers professionally with suitable Internet bandwidth for browsing, conferencing and phone use. This includes the avoidance of unreasonable background noise or distraction.

Must also be able to bend, push, pull, and reach above head, forward and from side to side to move or access products required for use from the customer, warehouse, or other location. Requires constant use of hands, arms, and wrist movement for PC and telephone work.

District Sales Manager

Division: Sales
Reports To: Director of Sales
Territories: Upper Mid-West (Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York)

Summary Description

As the first point of contact to assigned dealers in a territory, the District Sales Manager provides valuable resources in support of Roland’s products, strategy, and objectives to the dealers. The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for accurate analysis of market-by-market territorial sales potential, establishing distribution for all product groups, developing the Roland Dealer’s business, monitoring sales results, and meeting company established individual sales budgets and objectives. The DSM will train retail salespeople, assist with product merchandising and retail sales promotions, and help retailers develop and implement Roland Sales Programs as requested and approved by Roland Musical Instrument’s (MI) management.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Submit timely and accurate written reports (possibly including, but not limited to, dealer reports, bi-monthly market reports, sales forecast reports and travel itineraries) as requested by VP of Sales or RSM.
  • Achievement of monthly sales budgets.
  • Achievement of marketing and sales objectives as assigned. (Examples: tracking of new dealer activity, channel strategy goals, display implementation, dealer feedback, etc.).
  • Help credit department maintain current credit accounts with dealers, assisting in the collection of money which is past due and obtaining current financial information from dealers as requested.
  • Visit existing and competitive dealers on a regular schedule and conduct all business activity within the framework of Roland and BOSS stated marketing philosophies. Travel should include an appropriate amount of dealer, promotional, training, and prospect visits as directed by the RSM, which could include occasional weekend days.
  • Understand and implement Roland and BOSS dealer agreements, including monitoring of online sales and marketing activities.

Employment Standards

Education/Experience: Previous successful retail musical instrument sales and/or successful wholesale musical instrument sales experience is required.

Skills/Knowledge: Strong sales, product demonstration, communication, and computer skills are desired. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Ability to travel up to 75% of time supporting the tasks assigned to you.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.

Computer Skills:
Must be fluent in MS Office suite (Word and Excel). Knowledge and usage of computer programs that apply to electronic musical instrument applications (ie: digital audio workstations, editor/librarians, and programs made to connect to physical instruments).

Video Production Internship

We are currently seeking candidates for our paid internship video position (10-30 hours/week). We are looking for self-motivated person(s) that are interested in getting hands-on experience in video production for Roland’s creative marketing department. You will learn and be involved in all aspects of video production, from preproduction to post production.

You will be working in multi-camera HD video studios, video editing bays and audio recording rooms. You will get hands-on experience with HD cameras, studio lighting and grip equipment, video switchers, audio mixing boards, and of course tons of musical instruments.

If you are looking for real world video production and post-production experience, then this internship will be a great opportunity for you.

Qualifications

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 9am–5pm, M–F. Some evenings and weekends may be needed for video shoots.

Sales and Marketing Assistant Paid Internship

Roland Corporation U.S. is currently seeking candidates for a paid internship position (10-30 hours/week) in our sales and marketing departments. The pay is $12/hour. We are looking for self-motivated applicants that are interested in getting hands-on experience in the music business as part of the Roland team. You will learn and be involved in the sales process, the creation of retail and event materials, our social media content, and the planning of special events.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to, assistance with trafficking projects, archiving materials, print production, event preparation, marketplace monitoring, and product support. You will grow your sales and marketing skills by supporting our staff comprised of an internal and outside sales force, support of our in-house graphics, web design, print, photo/video, and product marketing teams.
