SPD-20 PRO System Program (Ver.1.11)

HOW TO FIND THE VERSION
Please check the current version of the system program on your SPD-20 PRO before downloading the file.
  1. Press the [SYSTEM] button.
    The SYSTEM screen appears.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to select "VERSION", then press the [ENTER] button.
    The VERSION screen appears.
  3. Look at the version number.
    * If the latest version is shown, no update is necessary.

Change the specification
  • The default value for Auto Off has been changed to 20 minutes.
    * For information on the Auto Off function, please refer to the [OWNER'S MANUALS].

  • PAD LINK can now be set individually for Tx/Rx.
  • FOOT SW can now be used to perform the same behavior as the [+], [-], and [SHIFT] buttons on the panel.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE UPDATE
  • SPD-20 PRO
  • USB flash drive
    * The USB flash drive need to be formatted on the SPD-20 PRO. (Up to 32 GB)
  • A computer with a USB connector (Windows, Mac)
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never use this update on any other product than the SPD-20 PRO, as it may harm other devices' data or system programs.
  • Never power off your SPD-20 PRO while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the SPD-20 PRO may not start up in normal operating mode, which requires servicing. If this occurs, contact the Roland service center near you.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program.
DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE
  1. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
  2. Click the "Download" button to download the system program (spd20pro_sys_v111.zip).
  3. Unarchive the downloaded file.
    • Windows: Right-click the file and click "Extract All", then click "Extract".
    • macOS: Double-click the file to unzip it.
    "spd20pro_sys_v111" folder appears.
  4. Open the "spd20pro_sys_v111" folder and copy "SPD20PRO_UPA.BIN" to the level displayed immediately on accessing the USB flash drive (the USB flash drive's root directory).
    * Never double-click or rename "SPD20PRO_UPA.BIN" displayed inside the folder after unarchiving.
    * Be sure not to copy the entire extracted folder.
UPDATE PROCEDURE
  1. Turn off the SPD-20 PRO.
  2. Connect the USB flash drive containing the "SPD20PRO_UPA.BIN" file to the USB MEMORY port on the SPD-20 PRO.
  3. Hold down the [AMBIENCE] button and turn on the SPD-20 PRO.
    * Keep holding down the [AMBIENCE] button until "Update" appears on display.
    The update starts automatically.
  4. When "update finished." appears on display, turn off the SPD-20 PRO.
  5. Remove the USB flash drive from the USB MEMORY port.
  6. Turn on the SPD-20 PRO and confirm it has been updated to the latest version.
