As the touring drummer for many of the biggest artists in France, Damien Schmitt has real-world experience using V-Drums in professional performances all over Europe and beyond. A longtime V-Drums user, he recognized early on that the versatility and sound-creation possibilities of electronic drums perfectly suited his diverse songwriting and performing skills.

Damien shares his carefully honed talents with this three-kit TD-17 collection. He’s expertly tweaked and tuned the internal sounds and augmented them by layering his custom drum samples on top. These kits are full of character and new tones, ready for loading into any of the preset slots in your TD-17 module.

Schmitt Kit
Damien processed this kit exactly how he processes his acoustic kit in the studio. The kick and snare are internal sounds layered with custom samples of his acoustic drums, and the toms offer tight and precise attack characteristics. The ride has just enough muffling to ensure it doesn't talk too much, providing the balance required for traditional swing or driving the cymbal in a jazz fusion style.

Timba
To play Latin music like salsa and songo, you need timbales, claves, and a cowbell. Damien is an experienced Latin music player, and he’s conceived a kit that offers a vibrant Latin percussion setup within a standard drum layout, powered by his custom samples. The hi-hat has a claves sound that’s triggered when you close the pedal firmly with the foot. The second tom has a low timbales sound on the head and a high timbales sound on the rim, while the ride is now your cowbell.

P Funk Kit
If you like the funky deadened drum sound from the 1970s, the authentic voice of this kit will instantly transport you back to that era. The kick has a low-mid tuning, the snare has a fat tone with heavy muffling, and the toms are processed the same way as the snare. Enjoy the nostalgic vibe and lose yourself in fat, retro grooves!
