Controller
Department: Finance and Accounting
Location: Corporate Office – Polanco, Mexico City
Reports to: Local MD and Director of Finance LATAM
Supervises: Accounting, Treasury, and Tax Compliance Staff
General Purpose of the Position
The Controller is responsible for developing a strong local Finance and Accounting team, overseeing the company’s financial integrity, implementing and monitoring internal controls, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and financial regulations, partnering with other departments (Sales and Operations) to maintain operational efficiency and supporting senior management with strategic financial insights. This role plays a key part in risk management and requires strong English skills to interact with foreign affiliates and related parties.
Main Functions and Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting department including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payables.
- Prepare Financial Statements, Financial Reports, Cash reports and Quarterly Packages in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review and authorize journals, including provisions and end of period entries.
- Review and authorize end of period reconciliations.
- Review and authorize banking transactions within the determined threshold.
- Design, implement, and continuously monitor internal controls aligned with best practices including balance sheet reconciliations and closing period checklists.
- Produce monthly reports (Sales, Stock, Assets, AR and AP aging, Expenses).
- Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns (including VAT, ISR, DIOT, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with SAT and other regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with tax/legal advisors.
- Monitor transactions with related parties to ensure compliance with transfer pricing and customs documentation.
- Provide clear and accurate financial reporting to senior management and foreign stakeholders.
- Lead initiatives to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support Regional Finance Director and local Senior Management.
- Supervise and develop accounting personnel.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar senior accounting or financial control role.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws, especially related to VAT and international transactions.
- Experience with inbound operations including tax compliance, inventory and related costs accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Business Central) and strong Excel skills.
- Bilingual: Spanish and English (advanced written and oral proficiency required).
- Experience working with international companies or related-party transactions is a plus.

Suggested Monthly Salary (Gross)
MXN $50,000 to $60,000 per month, depending on experience and qualifications, plus a performance-based bonus equivalent to 20% of the yearly salary.
