FA-101: Reducing Latency

Tags: fa-101
Delay between the time you press a key on a MIDI keyboard and the time you hear the sound is known as latency, and is a function of three variables:

1. Digital Audio Standard. Audio standards like MME have more latency than audio standards like WDM or ASIO. Try to employ ASIO whenever possible.

2. Buffer Size. The larger the buffer size setting, the more latency. Try decreasing buffer size in your FA-101 settings in Control Panel and/or in the Buffer Size setting in your software. (see pg 35 of your Owner's Manual)

3. Performance. Your computer and audio device should have fast performance. The FA-101 is capable of extremely low latency. Your computer should have a fast processor and lots of memory.
