The difference between the ASIO, WDM and MME drivers

ASIO stands for "Audio Stream Input Output." This format was designed to improve performace in latency over standard type drivers in both PC and Macintosh systems.

WDM stands for "Windows Driver Model," which has improved performance in latency over standard type drivers in Windows based systems only.

MME stands for "Microsoft Multimedia Environment," and is supported in almost all PC audio applications.
