FP-40 System Program (Ver.1.02)


How to tell the version
Please check the version of the system program on your FP-40 before downloading the archive file.
  1. Hold [Piano] button and [E.Piano] button and turn on the power.
    The [ ] button blinks.
  2. Examine the pattern of lighted and dark indicators to determine the current version.
    * If the pattern of lighted and dark is as follows, the system is at the latest version. No update operation is necessary.
    • The [Piano] button is lighted.
    • The [] button is lighted.
  3. After checking the version, turn off the FP-40 without performing any button operations.

What you will need to update your unit
  • FP-40
  • USB Memory
    * The USB memory needs to be formatted on an FP-40 or formatted as FAT32 or MS-DOS (FAT) on a computer in advance.
  • A computer that can use USB Memory ( Windows or Mac )
  • Update file downloaded from this page

Caution when performing the update
  • This program is exclusively for the FP-40. Never attempt to use it with any other product.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Downloading and unarchiving the compressed file
  1. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
  2. Click the "Download File" button to download the system program (fp40_sys_v102.zip).
  3. Unarchive the downloaded file.
    • Windows: Right-click the file and select "Extract All," then click "Extract".
    • Mac: Double-click the file to unzip it.
    R090_UPA.BIN inside the expanded folder is the system program.

Procedure for the update
[Caution]
  • You must not rename the extracted file.
  • Never turn off the unit power while the update is in progress. Doing so may cause malfunction. If such malfunction occurs, charged repairs may be necessary. You will need to contact a Roland service center near you if this occurs.
 
Creating the Update USB Memory
  • Copy R090_UPA.BIN to the root directory of a USB Memory.
Update Procedure
  1. Make sure that the FP-40 is powered off, then connect the USB Memory to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Hold down the [] button and press and hold the power button.
    The update operation starts. During the update, the [Piano]/[E.Piano]/[Organ]/[Others]/[Split] buttons repeatedly blink and turn off.
    ※ The update operation takes about 3 minutes.
  3. When all of the [Piano]/[E.Piano]/[Organ]/[Others]/[Split] buttons blink simultaneously, the update is complete.
    Press and hold the power button to turn off the power.
    Detach the USB Memory from the piano.
    This completes the update procedure. The FP-40 will operate with the new system program the next time it is powered on.
