TAIKO-1 System Program (Ver.1.02)

HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
The update procedure differs depending on the version currently in use. Before you start, check the system program version of your TAIKO-1.
  1. Press the [MENU(F2)] button.
    The MENU screen appears.
  2. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select "Others", then press the ［SELECT(F2)］ button.
    The OTHERS screen appears.
  3. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select "Version Info", then press the ［SELECT(F2)］ button.
  4. The current version appears on the display ("Program Version").

* If the latest version is shown, no update is necessary.

Change the specification
  • The default value for Auto Off has been changed to 20 minutes.
    * For information on the Auto Off function, please refer to the [OWNER'S MANUALS].

  • Minor bugs have been fixed.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE
  • TAIKO-1
  • USB flash drive
    * The USB flash drive need to be formatted on the TAIKO-1.
  • A computer with a USB connector (Windows, Mac)
DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE
  1. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
  2. Click the "Download" button to download the system program (taiko1_sys_v102.zip).
  3. Unarchive the downloaded file.
    • Windows: Right-click the file and click "Extract All", then click "Extract".
    • macOS: Double-click the file to unzip it.
    "taiko1_sys_v102" folder appears.
  4. Open the "taiko1_sys_v102" folder and copy "TAIKO1_UPA.BIN" to the level displayed immediately on accessing the USB flash drive (the USB flash drive's root directory).
    * Never double-click "TAIKO1_UPA.BIN" displayed inside the folder after unarchiving or changing the file name.
    * Be sure not to copy the entire extracted folder.
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never use this update on any other product than the TAIKO-1, as it may harm other devices' data or system programs.
  • If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TAIKO-1 may not start up in normal operating mode, which requires servicing. If this occurs, contact the Roland service center near you.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program.
UPDATE PROCEDURE
Caution

Never power off your TAIKO-1 while the update is in progress!

  1. Turn off the TAIKO-1.
  2. Connect the USB flash drive containing the "TAIKO1_UPA.BIN" file to the USB MEMORY port on the TAIKO-1.
  3. Hold down the [▲] button and turn on the TAIKO-1.
    * Keep holding down the [▲] button until "update" appears on display.
    The update starts automatically.
  4. When "update finished." appears on display, turn off the TAIKO-1.
  5. Remove the USB flash drive from the USB MEMORY port.
  6. Turn on the TAIKO-1 and confirm it has been updated to the latest version.
