JUNO-D6/D7/D8 System Program ( Ver.1.20 )


How to tell the version
Please check the version of the system working on your JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8 before downloading the archive file.
  1. Press [ MENU ] button to open the MENU screen.
  2. Move the cursor to "INFORMATION" and press the [ ENTER ] button.
    Displays the system program version.
* If this shows the latest version, there's no need to update.

Additional functions
  • A Keyboard Sw Group function has been added.
  • The following functions have been added under MENU > UTILITY.
    • EXPANSION: This lets you install World Expansions.
    • WAVE MEMORY INFO: This lets you check memory usage.
  • "ARP SW" and "CHORD MEM" settings have been added to the Hold Pedal Function and Control Pedal Function parameters.
  • "Metronome 1" and "Metronome 2" settings have been added to the Rhythm Pattern.
Functionality improvements
  • Behavior has been modified so that keyboard positions with Keyboard Range Lower set to "Upper" remain unchanged when transpose or octave shift values are altered.
  • The [TEMPO] button now flashes in sync with the currently set tempo (This can be disabled via settings.).

Additional functions
  • A "SAMPLE IMPORT" function has been added, which allows you to import and play Samples.
  • In Multipart mode, the part level is now shown on the display.
  • Added USB Audio Input Level/Output Level to the parameters that can be assigned to the SOUND MODIFY knob.
  • When playing arpeggios, a function has been added to turn the Arpeggio Hold Switch on/off by pressing [SHIFT] + [ARPEGGIO].
  • Added the function to turn the Loop ON/OFF for the sound played by pressing [SHIFT] + Pads [1] to [8] in the Audio Player.
  • Added a function to the Audio Player that allows you to set the Start Point/End Point by pressing [SHIFT] + [ENTER] during playback.

  • A function has been added that holds the sounds played by pressing [SHIFT] and pads [1] - [8] when the Phrase Pads are lit light blue.

What you will need to update your unit
  • JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8
  • USB flash drive
    *The USB flash drive need to be formatted on a JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8.
  • Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.

Caution when performing the update
  • This program is exclusively for the JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8. Never attempt to use it with any other product.
  • Never power-off your JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Downloading and unarchiving the compressed file
  1. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
  2. Click the "Download File" button to download the system program (junod_sys_v120.zip).
  3. Unarchive the downloaded file.
    • Windows: Right-click the file and select "Extract All," then click "Extract".
    • Mac: Double-click the file to unzip it.
    JUNOD_UPA_up.BIN inside the expanded folder is the system program.

Procedure for the update
[Caution]
  • You must not rename the extracted file.
  • Never turn off the unit power while the update is in progress. Doing so may cause malfunction. If such malfunction occurs, charged repairs may be necessary. You will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
 
Please update your unit according to the following procedure.
  1. Connect the USB Memory to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Hold down the [ WRITE ] button and turn on the power.
    The message " Updater... " appears on the display, and the update operation starts.
    * Continue to hold down the [ WRITE ] button until " Updater... " appears on the display.
  3. When the message " Please power off " appears, the update operation has finished.
    * The update operation takes about 4 minutes.
  4. Press the power button to turn off the power.
    Detach the USB Memory from the JUNO-D6 / JUNO-D7 / JUNO-D8.

    This completes the update operation. The new system program runs at the next startup.
    Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.
