What makes a JUNO?

The JUNO formula of a single DCO, fat sub-oscillator, and characterful VCF—and, of course, the massive swirling chorus—adds up to a sound you can’t help but love. This deceptively simple architecture, along with an easily approachable workflow, means great sounds pour out with seemingly no effort. The JUNO sound is heard on innumerable hit tracks and helped define genres like synthwave, synth-pop, new wave, and more. Over the decades, it has transcended beyond being just a synthesizer—it’s a JUNO.

We’ve used our proprietary circuit modeling technology to bring the JUNO-106 to life in your DAW or SYSTEM-8. The ACB process involves carefully analyzing original hardware units, circuit diagrams, and other historical data. We then use this information to recreate the authentic circuit behaviors of the vintage instrument, including all the beloved quirks and instabilities. This is what gives the JUNO-106 Software Synthesizer its breathtakingly lifelike sound and unique character.

Recreating an icon.

While developing the JUNO-106 plug-in, we felt it was important not to veer too far from the original’s elegant simplicity and carefully balanced magic. But we couldn’t resist adding a few modern touches, like making it velocity sensitive, extending the oscillator range, and adding a second envelope and onboard arpeggiator for extra flexibility. The LFO, arpeggiator, and effects conveniently sync to tempo, and the plug-in fits perfectly into your production environment with a freely resizable, high-definition UI and support for VST3, AAX, and AU formats.
