The V31 module is equipped with the same internal engine as the V71, giving you the identical sounds and expansion path in a streamlined interface. Crafted from a hand-picked selection of the world’s finest drum sets, these record-ready sounds deliver the detail, punch, and sonic quality found in the most expensive computer collections.

Just like the V71, you can freely change up the sound set within the V31 module to keep your music fresh. Open the Roland Cloud Connect app on your mobile device to access a growing range of V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles via your wireless network. Then, find the sounds you want, download them directly to the module, and start drumming immediately.

Drum sounds exist in two distinct universes. One is the intimate, up-close sound of the drums when you’re behind the kit. The second is the produced sound you hear in recordings and live concerts, which is typically processed with EQs, compressors, and ambience. Some V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles have been specially mixed for both the drummer and producer positions, letting you create the playing experience you want at the touch of a button.

Every V-Drums 3 Series kit can trigger sounds in DW Soundworks,* a revolutionary drum software instrument that runs as a standalone computer application or a DAW plug-in. Many DW Soundworks expansions mirror V-Drums Instrument Expansion titles, allowing you to transition to software-based drumming with the identical sound and response as the module.

V-Drums Instrument Expansions add all-new drum kits to the module, recorded using the same detailed process as the core library. The V31’s kits come ready to play, allowing you to experience world-class sounds with the turn of a dial. To add a personal touch, press the EZ Edit button to quickly change up kick and snare sounds, adjust pitch and damping, balance drum and cymbal levels, and more. If you want to go even further, dive into the module’s deeper editing tools or use the V31 Editor on your Mac or Windows computer.

By design, all V-Drums modules are very easy to use. But if you want an even more streamlined experience, V-Drums Play is for you. This companion app provides direct control of essential module functions from your smartphone, including kit selection, metronome settings, and recording to capture your drumming at any time. Perfect for beginners and acoustic players new to electronic drums, V-Drums Play keeps you focused on what matters most—having fun and improving every day.

Wireless freedom.

The V31 features a built-in Roland wireless adapter that links with your network, letting you audition and download sound content directly via the Roland Cloud Connect app on a mobile device. You can update the module wirelessly, making it simple to stay up to date with the latest system software. Bluetooth audio/MIDI is also available, allowing you to jam with songs on your phone, play along with video lessons, and more.

Connect and expand.

With the V31 module’s multi-pin jack and wiring harness, pad connections are quick, clean, and efficient. There are also two analog trigger inputs for optional crash or trigger pads, plus a dedicated input to upgrade your setup with a high-resolution digital snare, ride, or hi-hat pad used in pro-level V-Drums kits. You also have a stereo output for sound monitoring, a headphone jack for quiet practice, and an analog mix input for a music player or Roland percussion pad.

Multi-channel audio and MIDI.

Use the module’s integrated USB audio/MIDI interface to communicate with DW Soundworks, the V31 Editor, and other music software. And when you’re ready to dive into computer music production, you can capture up to 30 audio channels in a DAW over a single cable.

The sound engine is the core of any electronic drum system, but it’s the pad interface that connects you with the sound. All V-Drums 3 Series kits offer ultra-responsive feel and acoustic-style playability, backed by nearly 30 years of continual V-Drums development and Roland’s steadfast dedication to delivering the finest playing experience available.

Various V-Drums 3 Series kit features include attractive new tom pad designs to boost playability, larger floor toms for natural layouts, and updated hardware for additional setup flexibility. And with their satisfying acoustic feel, our multi-layer mesh heads remain the best you can get in electronic drumming.

Satisfying snares.

Each V-Drums 3 Series kit includes an expressive 12-inch snare pad with a tension-adjustable dual mesh head, independent head and rim triggering, and cross-stick support. The PDX-12 (TD313) has a low-profile rubber rim for natural acoustic feel, while the new PD-12P (TD316) features a chrome hoop and triple piezo sensors for hot spot elimination and enhanced response. The PDA120LS (VAD316) offers outstanding playability with advanced sensors and a shallow-depth wood shell for an acoustic look.

Rock-solid kick drums.

Roland kick pads deliver that deep, satisfying “thud” every drummer wants—while also keeping in-room noise in check. The time-tested KD-10 comes with the TD313 and TD316, providing great feel in a compact footprint. And with the KD-18-BK in the VAD316, you get a full-depth wood shell and an innovative pad sensor system built into an acoustic drumhead for authentic feel and rebound. All models support single and double pedals, and each kit comes with the KDP-5, a replaceable patch that slows wear and allows you to use a plastic, wood, or felt beater.

Responsive toms.

The TD313 and TD316 kits include new PD-8H and PD-10H tom pads with flagship-inspired feel and response. Designed for expressive and dynamic playing, each pad features a rubber rim derived from Roland’s high-end pads, plus an offset piezo sensor layout that minimizes hot spots and provides accurate sensing across head and rim zones. The VAD316 takes playability even further with two 10-inch rack toms and a 12-inch floor tom with shallow-depth wood shells.

Expressive hi-hats and cymbals.

The VH-10 V-Hi-Hat in the TD316 and VAD316 kits mounts on a standard hi-hat stand, providing a traditional acoustic playing feel with natural rebound, smooth tonal variations, and support for foot splashes and other techniques. In the TD313 kit, the CY-5/FD-9 combo delivers outstanding performance in a more compact footprint. All V-Drums 3 Series kits feature Roland’s famous V-Cymbals with natural swinging motion, dual-zone triggering for crash cymbals, and bow/edge/bell triggering for ride cymbals.
