Q.Can I use MIDI System Exclusive or Control Change messages to bypass the VF-1 (EFFECTS ON/OFF)?

A.Using the VF-1's Control Assign function, you can set EFFECTS ON/OFF (bypass) to be controlled by a specific MIDI Control Change message. (Note that this is not a global setting; it must be set on a patch by patch basis.)

Additionally, the VF-1's bypass status can be controlled with MIDI System Exclusive messages if you have a device capable of sending them (such as a MIDI sequencer).

In the VF-1's Utility mode, you can set the output behavior when the unit is bypassed. Use the following procedure:

1. Press UTILITY.
   
2. Turn VALUE to select SYSTEM, and then press ENTER.
   
3. Use the PARAMETER buttons to select EFFECTS OFF MD.
   
4. Turn VALUE to select the desired setting:
   DIRECT: When the VF-1 is bypassed, only the direct sound from the input jacks will be output.
   MUTE: When the VF-1 is bypassed, all output jacks will be muted.
   
5. Press UTILITY when finished.
