TD-3

Percussion Sound Module

Q.What can I use the TD-3's Coach mode for?

A.The TD-3's Coach mode provides a number of exercises and practice aids to assist in your drum/percussion practice. These exercises help you build speed control, accuracy, and endurance, as well as develop better timing skills.

Each of the different exercises in Coach mode provides parameters that you can adjust according to your level of skill.

  1. These exercises are designed to improve your timing accuracy:

Rhythmic Notes – is an aid to learning rhythmic note values. The rhythm type (note interval) will change every two measures as the exercise progresses. Three exercise variations are provided.
    • Time Check – checks your timing accuracy while you play in time with a beat. Seven different skill levels are available (easy to hard).
    • Quiet Count – helps develop internal timing sense. In this exercise, you practice accurate tempo-keeping by viewing a measure count on the display while you play. There are six variations available.
    • Speed Check – provides an eight-measure timing accuracy challenge. Play along with an ever-increasing tempo, and then check your accuracy at the end of the exercise. Seven different skill levels are available (easy to hard).
  2. These exercises are designed to improve endurance and strength:
    • Gradual Up/Down – allows you to play along with a beat with a tempo that gradually increases or decreases.
    • Step Up/Down – allows you to play along with a beat with a tempo that increases or decreases in larger steps. Three different step variations are provided.
  3. These counting and measure-keeping functions allow you to practice on your own:
    • Count-in and Measure Counter – provides an audible count-in and a measure count in time with the desired tempo. The measure count can be viewed on the display along with an audible count (the audible count can be switched off if you wish).
