Q.Unlike the S-4000S, the inputs on the S-4000H don't have preamps with adjustable gain (the inputs are fixed at line level (+4 dBu)). Why is this?

A.The S-4000H is designed for use near the mixing location. As a result, its audio inputs will most often receive line level audio from the mixing console (e.g., to feed amplifiers at the stage position). In this application, variable gain preamps are unnecessary, since the audio level can be easily adjusted from the mixer. As such, the S-4000H's inputs are fixed at line level (+4 dBu).
