RD-700SX

Digital Piano

Q.On the RD-700SX, what is the MIDI signal flow from the MIDI and USB connectors? In particular, how does the flow differ depending on whether the USB-MIDI Thru switch is on or off?

A.The following diagram shows the MIDI signal flow (including USB) in the RD-700SX. The USB-MIDI Thru switch determines whether signals received at the MIDI IN connector are sent to the sound generator of the RD-700SX or to the USB port. In the diagram, the green lines indicate the MIDI signal flow that is controlled by the USB-MIDI Thru switch.

If the USB-MIDI Thru switch is set to OFF, signals received at the MIDI IN connector are sent to the sound generator. (Figure 1)
If the USB-MIDI Thru switch is set to ON, signals received at the MIDI IN connector are sent to the USB port. (Figure 2)

Note:
The RD-700SX provides INTERNAL/EXTERNAL ZONE SWITCH and MIDI OUT Port settings, allowing you to specify the destination of MIDI signals transmitted from the RD-700SX itself.
