Q.What are the merits of recording songs to CompactFlash first and then burning them to a CD-R/RW disc, as opposed to recording directly to CD-R/RW?

A.

Recording to CompactFlash first gives you the opportunity to manipulate your songs before they're written to a CD-R/RW disc. You can:

  1. record multiple takes and choose the best performance.
  2. edit your recording, such as deleting sections, adding silence, or attaching a title.
  3. apply a mastering effect while burning the song to a CD-R/RW disc.

Since the CD-2's recording, editing, and processing is done in the digital domain, there is no signal degradation or noise build-up as when using analog tape media.
