How to know the version
Before you start, check the system program version of your TD-20X.
  1. Turn on the TD-20X.
  2. Press [TOOLS], [F5 (A<>B)], [F1 (INFO)], then press [F5 (VERSION)].
    The version infromation screen appears.
  3. After verifying the displayed version, switch off the power.
* If this shows the latest version, there’s no need to update your TD-20X.


Update history

  • You can stop the sound of the bow or bell using the choke technique when you use the CY-13R as a ride cymbal.


Caution When Performing the Update (IMPORTANT!)
  • This system program is only for TD-20X.
  • Before you perform the update, we recommend that you save your data to the CompactFlash card.
    For more information for backup, please refer to the TD-20X Owner's Manual.
  • Never power off your TD-20X while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TD-20X won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact a Roland service center if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program.
    Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.


What You'll Need to Update Your TD-20X
  • A computer running Windows(R)
  • CompactFlash Card Reader/Writer
  • CompactFlash Card (16 MB – 4 GB) for Update
  • The downloaded update file
You can not make an update CompactFlash card using a Macintosh.
 

Getting the Updater File
Please open/extract the downloaded "td20x_sys_v252.zip" file on your computer to get the "TD20UPD.PRG" and the "TD20UPD.ROM" file.
 


Procedure for Updateing
* Never power off your TD-20X while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TD-20X won't be able to start up in normal operating mode.

* Before you perform the update, we recommend that you save your data to the CompactFlash card.
 
Creating the Update CompactFlash card
  1. Format the CompactFlash card for update on the TD-20X.
  2. Copy the update files "TD20UPD.PRG" and "TD20UPD.ROM" onto the root directory of the CompactFlash card.
  3. Un-mount the CompactFlash card using the correct procedure, then disconnect from computer.

Update Procedure
  1. With the power off, Insert the CompactFlash card for update to the TD-20X, then turn the TD-20X power on.
  2. The TD-20X Updater screen appears.
  3. Press [F5=UPDATE] to start the update.
    It takes approx. 3 minutes for updating.
  4. When screen shows "Update Completed!", the update is finished.
  5. Turn off the TD-20X.
  6. Eject the CompactFlash card, then turn on the TD-20X.
  7. Please verify the version number “2.52” with the procedure described in “How to know the version” part of this document.
  8. When the entire update process has been completed, connect the CompactFlash card to your computer and delete the file "TD20UPD.PRG" and "TD20UPD.ROM" from CompactFlash card.
