This is a file for recovering factory installed data in the included SD Card.

What you will need to recover your JS-8
  • JS-8
  • USB cable
  • A computer with a USB connector (Windows 7 / Vista / XP, MacOS X)


Getting the recover files
Please open/extract the downloaded “js8sd_recover.zip” file on your computer to get the recover files in the “JS-8 SD Card Recover Data” folder.
 


Restoring the factory data to your JS-8
Caution
* When you copy the factory installed data to the SD card, all data that was previously on the SD card will be lost. Please back up SD card data to your computer before you format. (Refer to the "Backing Up SD Cards" of the owner's manual.)
* You must not do the following operations on restoring. Doing so might make your computer freeze, or might result in the loss of all of the JS-8's data.
  • Turn off the JS-8's power.
  • Disconnect the USB cable.
  • Allow your computer to enter suspend (standby) or hibernate mode, restart it, or shut it down.

  1. Connect the computer to the JS-8's USB port by a USB cable.
  2. When the USB SELECT screen appears in the JS-8, select JS-8 SONG LIST EDITOR and press [ENTER].
  3. Open the JS-8 icon, and put the ROLAND folder into the trash (delete it).
    “Removable Disk (*:)” may appear instead of the JS-8 icon.
  4. Copy (drag and drop ) the backed up entire all folder on the computer to the “JS-8” icon (or the “Removable disk (*:)” icon) and drop it there (overwriting it).
    Copy the entire folder. Copying only portions within the folder may render the data unusable as backup data.
  5. Disconnect the JS-8 from the computer.
    With Windows 7 / Vista / XP
    Right-click on the “JS-8” icon in My Computer (or the “Removable Disk (*:)” icon) and execute “Eject.”

    With Mac OS
    Drag the “JS-8” icon to the eject icon in the Dock.
  6. Press [EXIT].
  7. When the message “Are you sure?” appears, press [ENTER].
