Checking the System Program Version of Your TD-20 (w/TDW-20)

1. Turn on the TD-20.
2. Press [TOOLS], [F5 (A<>B)], [F1 (INFO)], then press [F5 (VERSION)].
   The version infromation screen appears.

What You'll Need to Update Your TD-20 (w/TDW-20)

• A computer running Windows XP or Windows Vista
• CompactFlash Card Reader/Writer
• CompactFlash Card (16 MB – 512 MB) for Update
• The downloaded update file

You can not make an update CompactFlash card using a Macintosh.

Caution When Performing the Update (IMPORTANT!)

• This system program is only for TD-20 expanded with TDW-20.
• Before you perform the update, we recommend that you save your data to the CompactFlash card.
  For more information for backup, please refer to the TD-20 and TDW-20 Owner's Manual.
• Never power off your TD-20 while the update is in progress!
  If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TD-20 (w/TDW-20) won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact a Roland service center if this occurs.
• We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program.
  Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

Getting the Updater File

Please open/extract the downloaded "TDW20_251.zip" file on your computer to get the "TD20UPD.PRG" and the "TD20UPD.ROM" file.

Procedure for Updateing

* Never power off your TD-20 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the TD-20 (w/TDW-20) won't be able to start up in normal operating mode.

* Before you perform the update, we recommend that you save your data to the CompactFlash card.

1. Format the CompactFlash card for update on the TD-20.
2. Copy the update files "TD20UPD.PRG" and "TD20UPD.ROM" onto the root directory of the CompactFlash card.
3. Un-mount the CompactFlash card using the correct procedure, then disconnect from computer.
4. With the power off, Insert the CompactFlash card for update to the TD-20, then turn the TD-20 power on.
5. The TD-20 Updater screen appears.

6. Press [F5=UPDATE] to start the update.
   It takes approx. 3 minutes for updating.
7. When screen shows "Update Completed!", the update is finished.

Update Completed.    Please Remove the Card and Power OFF.

 

8. Turn off the TD-20.
9. Eject the CompactFlash card, then turn on the TD-20.
