Turn Your Guitar into a GK Gear

The GK-3 is for sending individual signals from each guitar string to GK compatible devices. It is carefully designed for guitar performance by having a big and smooth GK knob, and a Select Switch to change from synth, to normal guitar tone, or both of them mixed.

- Various attachment accessories included; double-sided tapes, holder to secure the controller unit, and special attachment plate for installing the pickup unit to Les Paul-type guitars.

Read carefully before installing your GK-3

Check the dimensions and requirements below to make sure that the GK pickup and controller can be attached to your guitar.

* If GK-3 is attached for prolonged periods of time to a guitar with a lacquer finish, you may notice a slight discoloration on the finish when you take it off.

Requirements

If you are not using the pickup holder:

(A) Make sure that there is a space of at least 8 mm (3/8") between the bridge and rear pickup.

(B) Measuring from the middle of the 1st and 6th string, make sure that there's a clear space of at least 61 mm (2-7/16") towards the 6th string. The surface should be flat and nothing should be blocking the way, such as screws and volume/tone knobs.

(C) Measuring from the middle of the 1st and 6th string, make sure that there's a clear space of at least 42 mm (1-11/16") towards the 1st string. The surface should be flat and nothing should be blocking the way, such as screws and volume/tone knobs.

If you are using the pickup holder:

(D) Make sure that there is a distance of at least 15 mm (5/8") between the rear pickup and the post that holds the bridge in place (on the 1st string side). You will need an extra 2 mm (1/8") of space if the pickup holder is in contact with a bridge saddle adjustment screw.

(E) The distance between the center of the GK pickup and the rear edge of the guitar body must be no greater than 280 mm (11-1/16").

(F) Make sure the guitar's body is between 40 mm (1-5/8") and 60 mm (2-3/8") thick (*1).

(G) Make sure that there is a space of at least 9 mm (3/8") between the center strings and the surface that you will be attaching the GK pickup to (*2).

(*1) In some cases, you can attach the GK pickup to a guitar that is thinner than 40 mm by using the included cushion.

(*2) As a general rule of thumb, use the included spacer to adjust the GK pickup height so that you have a space of about 1.0 mm between the GK pickup and the 1st and 6th strings when these strings are held down at the highest fret.
