A classic grand piano gives a room presence. However, the traditional acoustic beauty can come with high-maintenance issues. They need to be tuned, are susceptible to changes in climate, and moving them is cumbersome. Roland’s Digital Grand series pianos offer the same silhouettes and sounds, yet are easy to move and never need tuning. Unlike traditional grand pianos, the volume can be controlled from soft background music all the way to concert volumes. Some models even offer virtual surround sound and digital “player-piano” capabilities, complete with moving keys. And the action of the keyboard simulates the feel of a true acoustic grand with amazing accuracy.

Never needs tuning
Since all models are completely digital, and have no strings, it requires very little maintenance. It never needs tuning!
Easy to reposition or relocate
Weighing less than acoustic grand pianos, Roland digital pianos are easier to reposition and relocate.
Volume can be easily adjusted to match the environment
In settings where people want to enjoy conversation, the volume of a Roland digital piano can be adjusted to provide background music. For a live performance, volume can be turned up for an impressively large sound. Whatever the situation, the volume level can be freely adjusted. For private practice, simply plug in a set of headphones.
Attention to security, special functions, and other details
All piano models feature Panel Lock*, a function that prevents instrument settings from being changed. In the RG series, Lid Lock enables the keyboard lid to be physically locked in position over the control panel. Ideal for use in hotels and restaurants, the locking lid can be slid down to hide the control panel, protecting it from spills and bumps, and preventing guests from touching the controls during playback. The KR117M-R features a safety setting that closes the keyboard lid slowly, preventing the lid from slamming shut.
*Except KR111.

Our piano cabinetry is carefully polished by expertly skilled hands to bring the luxurious black coating to a lustrous mirror finish.* Creating an elegant ambience, just like an acoustic grand piano, the stately form is accented by an opening and closing lid. The keyboard, which has natural-looking simulated ivory and ebony keys, creates a distinguished look and feel that enhances the overall impression. With the KR115M-R, KR115-R, HP109, and the RG series, you can cover the control panel, leaving the keys exposed to retain the classic beauty of the piano.
*RG-7-PW is polished white. RG-7-PM is polished mahogany. (made to order)

From space saving to stately, Roland’s digital piano lineup has something for every person and every environment. The RG series provides a true grand-piano experience with its stately cabinetry and incredibly realistic touch and sound. The KR-Grand series offers a wide variety of tones and entertainment functions, while the HP109 is the perfect choice for piano-focused elegance and simplicity. The RG, KR-Grand series, and HP109 also feature compact models designed to neatly fit into living rooms and hotel lounges that were not able to accommodate a grand piano. Color is another option. With the RG-7*, for example, choose from a mirror-polish finished in white or mahogany.

For over 30 years, Roland has devoted itself to the development of the perfect digital piano, playing a key historical role in the evolution of the instrument.

To perfectly capture the rich, dynamic sound of a full concert grand piano, Roland digital pianos contain stereo multisamples from all 88 keys of a concert grand piano. Painstaking sampling of each note of several of the world's most renowned instruments enables expression ranging from profound bass notes to delicate sparkling highs. The sound characteristics of a full concert grand are carefully reproduced to enable players to experience the same response and dynamics of an acoustic instrument. Moreover, with superb organ, harpsichord, and other sounds built in, players are able to enjoy an extended musical palette. Even with the damper pedal in use, you can confidently perform without note-dropout thanks to the 128-voice engine. Furthermore, in the KR Grand Series, it’s possible to adjust key-release amounts to delicately control decay and to finely tune resonance when using the damper pedal. Using a radar-chart style display, you can freely customize the piano sound and characteristics to fit your personal preference.

Enjoy the comfortable, authentic touch of a concert grand piano with Roland’s PHA II (Progressive Hammer Action II) keyboard. The low-register keys have heavier touch, while the keys at the high end have a lighter action. When keys are pressed lightly with a gentle touch, the tone is soft pianissimo. Firm and strong pressure elicits a decisively responsive fortissimo. The Ivory-Feel keys provide a touch on a par with the finest grand pianos. Made from a moisture absorbing material, the ivory-colored white keys and ebony-colored black keys simulate the natural look and comfortable dry touch of a world-class grand. The white keys are made with a two-piece “surface over base material” structure and look just like the keys of an acoustic piano. The noise of fingernails striking the keys is also reduced.
Thanks to Roland’s escapement structure, the distinctive click-feel so typical of grand pianos is also reproduced, along with the fine differences in touch that you get with a hammer response.
*PHA II keyboard and Ivory-Feel keys are not available on the KR111, HP109, RG-7-PW and RG-7-PM.
