The Mesh Head, with its 2-ply mesh material enables both drum feel (head tension) and muting. Development began after taking a hint from the material used in trampolines. The Mesh Head enjoyed high praise throughout the world when first announced. Since then, it has defined the very uniqueness and character of the V-Drum. During development, Roland acquired numerous patents. The numbers printed under the surface of the heads are the U.S. patent numbers.
With their patented mesh heads and rubber-coated rims, the V-Pads and V-Kick trigger pads provide exceptional sound damping performance so you can practice at home without disturbing others.
The V-Pad is equipped inside with a high-sensitivity sensor that makes contact with the center of the Mesh Head. It is able to detect playing nuances in precise detail and capture the natural sound changes as distance increases from the center. Not even the slightest signal is missed before being transferred to the V-Drum sound generator. Developed at Roland, a radiating sensor frame construction is also used to evenly transfer rim strikes to the sensor in the middle. This allows all playing techniques — even rimshot and cross-stick techniques — to be captured accurately.

The KD-140 is a one-piece metal frame that provides pro-grade stability during performances. The tips of the legs can be switched between spikes and rubber stoppers to accommodate a variety of floor surfaces. The pedal plate has been improved so you can securely attach a variety of kick pedals, including double pedals. The KD-140's oversized pad is perfect for twin-pedal performances and other power-packed poundings, with the V-Drums know-how. The unique shape of the inside cushion provides an extra-wide dynamic response, ranging from gentle to powerful impacts.
